SOGES has been awarded the project “Development and roll out of an E-Learning Programme on Metrology”, funded through the ACP-EU TBT programme.
The overall objective of the project is to enhance ACP countries knowledge on metrology as an essential element of Quality Infrastructure in order to facilitate trade, protect consumers and promote fair competition for transformative growth and as an important driver for economic development, industrialization and poverty reduction.
In the framework of this project, SOGES is going to develop and test a comprehensive E-Learning Course on Legal Metrology, and make it available to ACP relevant counterparts:
- two training courses “Introduction to Metrology as an Element of Quality Infrastructure” and “Legal Metrology” will be developed
- an E-Learning IT platform will be designed, set up and tested in 3 ACP countries
- dissemination of the accessing modalities and key characteristics of the E-learning platform will be assured
SOGES will mobilise a team of experts, including a Team Leader – Legal Metrology Expert and an IT and E-learning expert both with more than 15 years of professional experience, in order to carry out missions in the three different ACP countries where the E-Learning platform will be tested.
SOGES will take care of the organization of those missions and of the proper dissemination of information on the activities, with the aim of reaching the expected project results.
The adoption of a comprehensive e-learning programme and the use of specific IT features will encompass many advantages, as:
- possibility to work and study from virtually anywhere at a personalised pace
- possibility to select learning materials on the basis of participants’ needs, knowledge and interest
- development of the knowledge of the Internet and computers skills that will help learners throughout their lives and careers
- increase of self-confidence in people who successfully complete computer-based courses
The beneficiary of this project is represented as close collaboration with two regional beneficiaries: CROSQ – CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality and AFRIMETS – Intra-Africa Metrology System.
